Which regions of Russia have become popular among domestic tourists?
Moscow and Petersburg were able to lead the top of the most attractive cities in Russia according to the travel service Tutu.
The rating took into account the share of travelers who chose a particular city, the purchased plane and train tickets were analyzed, departing from January 1 to December 31, 2018/2019 from any Russian city also to any city of the Russian Federation.
In both rankings, Moscow is in the first place, but experts emphasize that the capital is not only a major tourist center, but also the only hub of the country.
Most of the routes from any city in the country with a transfer, whether by train or plane, pass through Moscow, the capital receives just over a quarter of all arriving air passengers 26% and a third traveling by train 29%.
As for air travelers, the Krasnodar Territory follows in second place, and St. Petersburg closes the top three. Crimea and the Stavropol Territory follow, this top 5 regions receive about 2/3 of all air passengers.
Next is the “north”, rather not related to tourism. The tenth place was taken by Tatarstan.
Tourists-fans of trains choose Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory. Experts believe that the second place of St. Petersburg is due to high-speed trains connecting the two capitals, and became the most convenient mode of transport between them.
The third place is the Nizhny Novgorod region. And one of the reasons is the same - modern high-speed trains to both capitals.
The remaining two places in the top five are resort destinations in the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region.
