Which city is the leader of sustainable tourism in Russia?

St. Petersburg Leads in the “green” rating of sustainable tourism, overtaking Moscow and Kemerovo region. This confirms how the city copes with a large tourist flow, without harming culture and ecology.

The ranking is based on 15 indicators in four groups: safety and risk management, environmental quality, infrastructure for health and accessibility, and sustainability management. Data are taken from Rosstat, regional strategies and surveys of the authorities of 80 subjects of the Russian Federation.

St. Petersburg stands out for its consistent implementation of sustainable tourism standards under high load – many practices are unique, according to analysts. Sustainable tourism minimizes harm to nature and local culture.
