The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reports that the top most popular excursion destinations for tour operators at the end of the summer season included Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, the North Caucasus, Altai, Kamchatka, Baikal and Karelia, the leader in the growth of tourist flow - Dagestan.
According to tour operators, this year the popularity of combined tours has increased, in which tourists visit, for example, St. Petersburg and Karelia, Moscow and the cities of the Golden Ring, Dagestan and Chechnya.
The most popular destinations of excursion tourism this year were not only traditional Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also regions where they go for natural attractions - the Caucasus, Altai, Karelia. All areas included in the top sales showed an increase of 10 to 35%, with the largest increase in Dagestan. The republic occupies the first places in the sales ratings of excursion tours among many tour operators, the statement reads.
Tour operators decided to extend flight programs to Dagestan until mid-October.
What can explain the popularity of Dagestan? A rich excursion program and the sea, all together allows you to combine a beach holiday with excursions.
