Caucasus: how did the tourist flow grow in 2021?
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reports that the number of Russians vacationing in the Caucasus has increased compared to 2019. In 2021, the region was visited by almost 1 million tourists, which is 20% more compared to 2019.
In the summer alone, about 600 thousand tourists visited the Caucasus, and if we take tourists who stayed at least for one night in hotels, then for 8 months of this year, about 1 million tourists visited the Caucasus regions - 2.5 times more than in the same period of 2020.
There is a tendency to rest in the Caucasus not only in summer, but also in any other season. Now, in autumn, the hotels of the Caucasian Mineral Waters and Kabardino-Balkaria are loaded by more than 90%.
One of the reasons for the increase in demand is the tourist cashback program. Demand for tours in the off-season in 2021 in the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District increased by 20%.
