When is it profitable to buy cheap air and rail tickets?
OneTwoTrip found out when its customers buy plane or train tickets.
The purchase of tickets depends on their cost and the date of receipt of salary. And some focus on the beginning or end of the working week.
Travelers buy train tickets on Monday (15.8% of respondents), Friday (13.1%), Wednesday (10.3%).
More men plan their trips on weekends. Women prefer Tuesday and Friday, choose Saturday twice as often, and on Sunday do not buy at all.
In 13.3%, the purchase of train tickets is related to salary, and for women this is more important than for men. 28.9 percent of travelers have no specific reason to buy train tickets on a particular day of the week.
Flights are most often bought on Tuesday - 11.5% of travelers. 10% of respondents plan flights on Saturday, and 9.2% – on Monday. Women are more likely to buy tickets on Saturday and Tuesday, and the stronger sex - on Wednesday and Friday.
44% of respondents pre-monitor prices and book tickets when their cost is better. One in five is oriented on convenience (19.9%), 11.3% of the purchase depends on salary, and 24.8% choose the answer “Other”.
A. Teplov, OneTwoTrip: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) updates the exchange rates that airlines are required to target once a week on Wednesdays at midnight. It sets the rate at which the exchanges closed on Monday evening <...> if from midnight last Wednesday to Monday evening the ruble exchange rate fell, then on Wednesday tickets will rise in price, and it is most profitable to buy them on Tuesday. If the ruble has risen, the purchase should be postponed until Wednesday.”
