Russian Consulate in Phuket: Russians can extend their stay for a month

Russian tourists who stay in Phuket due to the complete cancellation of Russian flights abroad can stay at the resort for a month longer.

The Russian consulate in Phuket has issued a statement saying Russians can stay at least a month longer than the original date on their visa.

For this, the Russians need:

  • contact the Phuket Immigration Service
  • You must have an original letter from the consulate, a passport and a document confirming where they currently reside in Phuket.
  • Reception is possible in the order of a live queue.

The consulate sent letters to the Phuket Immigration Service asking for an official extension.

The extension for Russians is mainly for those who are stuck due to flight cancellations and problems with access to money for both Russian and Ukrainian citizens, etc. at the moment. The issuance of letters is primarily intended for citizens who are “stuck” on the island due to the cancellation of flights, the validity of the visa / stamp of which expires in the coming days, the consulate said.

Russian tourists in Phuket make up the majority. Over the past month, about 17,000 people arrived.
