Measles spreads across Europe

Doctors around the world are concerned that measles has become so widespread in Europe that tourists from other countries and continents are taking the disease with them, causing measles to spread where it was not before. For example, Africa and USA They have already suffered from European measles.

The worst situation today is in FranceFrom January to May this year, about five thousand cases have already been recorded there. The rate of increase in incidence is impressive, because only for the whole of 2010 the number of measles cases in France did not exceed this figure. The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a statement saying that "thirty countries in the European region have reported an increase in measles cases, reaching 6,500 so far."

Europe is facing a serious measles epidemic. The WHO attributes this to the fact that modern Europeans are scared of vaccinations. After all, back in 1998, articles appeared in the British press that some studies revealed a link between measles vaccination and autism. Therefore, many parents refused vaccinations.

Measles is an airborne disease. The symptoms are: fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, inflammation of the throat and airways. After 3-5 days, a rash appears on the body. Measles is especially dangerous for infants and adults with weakened immunity.

Doctors warn the disease will continue to spread across the continent unless 90% of the population is vaccinated against measles. Therefore, all tourists traveling to Europe are advised to take care of their health in advance.
