Costa Rica for electronic visas
Last year, more than two million foreign tourists visited Costa Rica, most of them from the United States and Canada. But the number of Russian tourists was less than 3 thousand people.
Such a small tourist flow from our country is explained by the lack of convenient air travel. It is also necessary to obtain visas.
Today, the most convenient way to get from Russia to Costa Rica is to fly through Miami and New York. From Miami to Costa Rica, the flight is only 2.5 hours, from New York - 4.5 hours. There are also flights from Moscow with flights of the airline "Iberia", with them you will have a transfer in Madrid. And through the airports of Frankfurt and Berlin, you can fly on flights of the German airline Condor. It is planned to open direct flights to Costa Rica from Europe.
Citizens of Russia to visit this country must obtain a visa, which is issued in the consular department of the Embassy of Costa Rica in Moscow. However, this need is spared holders of annual visas to the United States or EU countries.
If you do not have an American or European visa in your passport, you will have to provide a passport, a copy of the first page, photos, a questionnaire, confirmation of air travel and residence, as well as certificates from work or study and from banks to obtain a visa to Costa Rica. The visa fee is paid already in Costa Rica, the visa processing period is on average 3 days.
The Ministry of Tourism of Costa Rica is currently working on the possibility of issuing visas electronically for Russians. This procedure will significantly facilitate the process of issuing visas and, according to representatives of the Ministry, will increase the flow of tourists from Russia.
