Crimea finally refused to introduce a resort fee

The resort fee in Crimea has never been charged to tourists, despite the existence of the relevant law.

In 2019, the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov said that the region is not ready for the introduction of the levy. The start of the levy was postponed on May 1, 2021, and then it was assumed that the tourist tax will be taken from tourists from May 1, 2022. But this will not happen, now it is final.

The law “On the introduction of the resort fee” was recognized as invalid in the Crimea, as reported on February 25, 2022 on the website of the State Council of the Republic. The initiative was designed to promote the development of the tourist infrastructure of the Crimea, but the resort areas of the peninsula, previously included in the experiment, themselves refused to participate in it.

2022 was supposed to be the last year in which the introduction of a resort fee in the Crimea was still possible. But in the “case of the resort fee in the Crimea” put a point: according to the regional authorities, revenues from the resort fee this year would not allow to solve the infrastructure problems of the resort sector of the Peninsula.

The tourism industry supported the decision. According to experts, the region would not feel the real benefit of the collection, and for tourists, its design would be an additional irritating factor.
