Summer 2021: how many equipped beaches will open for Russians?

Head of the Department of State Inspectorate for Small-Sized Vessels (SIMS) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Andrei Pechenin: more than three thousand beaches will open in Russia in the swimming season of 2021.

“A survey of 3,100 beaches has been pre-planned for the opening in the summer season of 2021,” he said at a press conference.

Pechenin added that their number may increase, as due to closed borders with other countries, the influx of citizens to resorts in Russia and to reservoirs in non-resort regions is growing.

In 2020, there were fewer beaches registered with rescuers – 3,020. This is due to restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The head of the GIMS department of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia listed the main reasons why the beaches are forbidden to work: the lack of cleaning the bottom in the bathing zone, the lack of a positive conclusion of the Rospotrebnadzor authorities on the suitability of water for bathing, the lack of rescue equipment and equipped rescue posts with rescuers on the beaches.
