“It is better to live in a remote province by the sea”: people near the big water feel better
Scientists at the University of Exeter (UK) in their study found that life on the seaside helps to cope with anxiety and depression.
The researchers compared the health data of people who live less than 1 km from the sea and those who live more than 50 km from it. Even those who earn a little are happier, simply by having a lot of water in their lives.
The study involved 26,000 Britons: 1 in 6 people in the United Kingdom have a mental disorder, and most of the mental problems suffer from poor people. But those who live near the sea are less susceptible to diseases than others.
