Morocco - Russia: direct flights closed
From October 5, 2021, Morocco temporarily suspends direct flights with Russia.
It will be possible to enter the country and return only with connections through third countries.
The Russian operations headquarters opened for the resumption of flights to Morocco in June this year. The office approved 2 flights per week. According to a number of experts interviewed, the reason for the decision of the Moroccan authorities to close air traffic with the Russian Federation may be the daily widespread coverage in the Russian media of anti-records in morbidity and mortality from coronavirus.
Now in Morocco can be a small number of tourists (at most - dozens). Morocco imposes strict requirements for the entry of tourists: unvaccinated Russians must spend 10 days in quarantine.
According to the Border Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation, 3,984 people left for Morocco in the first half of the year, of which only 832 went for tourism.
Direct flights between Russia and Morocco (Casablanca) were operated by S7 Airlines and Royal Air Maroc. At the time of the evening of October 5, S7 Airlines did not comment on the suspension of flights and the algorithm for working with passengers who bought tickets to Morocco.
There are currently no direct flights to Casablanca on the S7 Airlines website. But there are tickets for return flights from Casablanca to Moscow (departures on Sundays). A ticket for October 10 costs from 75 thousand rubles per person in one direction. Tickets for later dates are cheaper - from 39 thousand rubles with departure on October 24 and beyond. If you return on November 14, you can buy a ticket from 34 thousand rubles.
