The mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin spoke about the coronavirus in Moscow

About the first infected coronavirus in Moscow became known on Sunday evening: he was a tourist from Italy.

On Monday evening, Moscow Mayor Serey Sobyanin spoke on his blog about the events. Now the metro passengers at the entrance will remotely check the temperature, but according to experts, this measure is ineffective, since the incubation period of the coronavirus is at least 14 days, during which the disease may not appear in any way, but the infected can infect others.

Excerpts from Serey Sobyanin's message:

Today, doctors have confirmed the first case of a new coronavirus infection Covid-2019. The coronavirus was detected in a Muscovite who flew from Italy. He is now in an infectious disease hospital and receiving all the treatment he needs. The disease proceeds in a mild form. Within a day from the moment of the suspicion of infection (February 29), a full circle of contacts of this person was established - relatives, friends, acquaintances and passengers flying with him on the same flight. 6 relatives and 5 friends of the patient were hospitalized. They have no symptoms of the disease.”

There are medical posts at the airports of the Moscow aviation hub. All citizens arriving from China, Iran and South Korea are issued isolation orders, their contact details are recorded, a photo is taken, and a coronavirus test is taken.

Citizens arriving from Italy and other countries with an adverse situation for coronavirus infection are issued notices recommending compliance with the isolation regime at home. They fill out a questionnaire with contact information and take pictures.

Body temperature measurements are carried out on all international passengers at all airports. If the temperature is elevated, the passenger is invited to a medical post, where he is analyzed, and then hospitalized or left under medical supervision at home.

Compliance with the insulation regime is controlled, including by special technical measures. Daily rounds of places of mass visits and residence of Chinese citizens, as well as Russians and citizens of other countries who flew from China to Moscow before the introduction of continuous border controls, continue. Since February 15, more than 12,000 studies have been conducted on coronavirus infection. Currently, more than 5.5 thousand people are under observation.

If necessary, citizens who have come into contact with potential carriers of infection, or who have violated the isolation regime, are placed in sanatoriums and rest homes for constant medical supervision.

In urban hospitals, additional places have been prepared for hospitalization of patients with suspected coronavirus infection.

In kindergartens and schools, daily temperature measurement of children is introduced.
Selective temperature measurement remotely will be organized at the entrances to the Moscow metro.

Employers are encouraged to regularly measure the temperature of employees.

Preventive measures previously introduced remain in force.
Plans have been developed to respond to various scenarios. I ask citizens to comply with the restrictions imposed, as well as apply preventive measures recommended by doctors.
