“Game of Thrones” locations in Girona will be available for tourists

The authorities of the Spanish city of Girona are going to attract tourists to the city, organizing excursions to the locations of the filming of the series “Game of Thrones”. To help tourists will develop a special application, which when hovering the camera phone will show how this place looks in the series.

For example, tourists will have the opportunity to compare the Cathedral square of Girona (La plaça de la Catedral) with the footage of the series, where it is like a castle located on the beach.

Adviser of culture, Carlos Ribas (Carles Ribas) believes that due to the huge popularity of the series and a large number of fans around the world, it is necessary to make the most of this fact in attracting tourists.

Girona, in addition to the set for "Game of Thrones" is also the venue where filmed such films as "Soldiers of Salamis" (Soldados de Salamina, based on the book of the same name by Javier Serkas), "Perfume" (El Perfum, based on the book of the same name Suskind), received various awards from film experts.

For this reason, the city hall plans to include other places of Girona in the application with excursions around the city, however, the most popular is the series “Game of Thrones”.
