The Ministry of Transport allowed travelers to go on flights on electronic boarding passes n
The order of the Ministry of Transport, obliging airports to allow passengers to the "sterile" zone without a paper boarding pass, according to the electronic version, is registered with the Ministry of Justice.
“In case of independent online check-in for the flight, the passenger will be provided with an electronic boarding pass, which can be used to pass to the sterile zone of the airport. Such a pass may be used at the airport if there is an information system including an electronic search database and a device scanning the bar code.”
The admission is still theoretical, because an electronic boarding pass allows for flights at airports with proper equipment and an electronic boarding control system. At the airports of Russia it is not, but in Domodedovo assure that “for innovation ready”.
Information about the order appeared in October: according to the new rules, the air carrier can issue a boarding pass in the form of a barcode and send a passenger to an electronic carrier (smartphone, tablet).
During the inspection, employees scan the document from the screen of the device. Airports support the move, saying it will speed up passenger processing. Using eGate reduces the risk of flight delays and increases passenger service speed by 50%. Capacity is increased by a third or twice, there is a "saving" of staff.
The current legislation provides for two rules that exclude each other. According to one rule, an electronic boarding pass has legal force, as well as printed on paper. In another case, the passenger must present a seal of the inspection on a paper ticket.
