The Garbage Crisis of Naples
In Naples, the garbage situation is literally getting worse every hour. The debris is growing before our eyes. The authorities of the Campania region explain that due to the overcrowding of urban landfills, garbage is not taken out. It is striking that the situation with the “garbage crisis” has been deteriorating day by day since September of this year. A spokesman for the local administration, Paolo Giokomelli, admitted that over the past few days, regardless of the efforts of the authorities, the problem has not been solved. Most landfills are no longer physically able to accept garbage trucks. Frighteningly, from Monday to Tuesday, the amount of garbage has increased from a frantic 2,200 tons to a catastrophic 2,700 tons. No one can hide that the situation is out of control.
