Sicily sells houses for a cup of espresso

The publication Lonely Planet reports that if you dreamed of buying a house on the sunny island of Sicily and lead a quiet lifestyle in the city. ItalyThe proposal of the mayor of Sambuca di Sicily suits you.

Sambuca di Sicily is a small town in the Sicilian province of Agrigento (Italy). In 2016, it became the most beautiful city in Italy.
In recent years, the number of locals has declined as people move to larger cities. To remedy the situation, the mayor of Sambuca Leonardo Chaccio initiated the action “House for 1 euro” and began to sell about 20 vacant houses with an area of 40 to 150 square meters at a symbolic price of 1 euro.

Of course, there are conditions for buying an Italian home for a little money. Buyers must make a deposit of 5,000 euros and begin repairs in the chosen house, after which they will receive the deposit back. According to the mayor of Sambuki di Sicily, if you like small Italian cities, their history and way of life, then it will be a profitable investment.

Sambuca di Sicily is not the first to take part in such an initiative. In 2018, in the city of Ollolai (the island of Sardinia), everyone could buy a house at prices below the cost of a cup of coffee. But Sambuki’s state administration said there are differences: the city owns all the houses for sale, and so will take care of the deal directly, rather than simply acting as an intermediary between the seller and the buyer – it will be possible to buy a dream home in Sicily almost immediately.

Mayor L. Chaccio invites everyone to visit Sambuca and see the beauty of the city. The list of houses for 1 euro is published on the official website of the city, there are also rules and regulations for sale.
