Flooding in Paris

The weather is over and the consequences remain. Due to heavy snowfalls, the water level in the Seine region of Paris rose. It is forbidden to travel on most promenades in the city center. River transportation along the Seine has been suspended, since the height of the arched floors under the bridges is insufficient for the passage of ships, including pleasure boats. Paris' chief meteorologist, the stone Zouave of the Alma Bridge, soaked his feet. Which means there's flooding in Paris. But don't despair. This is normal for this season.
The situation is under special control of the Paris Railway Service and the Flood Forecast Service. The water level is constantly measured by a special probe located in the Arsenal area near the Austerlitz Bridge. But Parisians have their own proven way of observing Seine levels. This is the famous Zouave, a stone sculpture of a soldier adorning the Alma Bridge. At normal times, his feet are dry, but as the water level in the Seine progresses, he has to carry his watch in wet boots. The famous flood in the winter of 1910 covered the shoulders of the soldier under water.
So far, there is no real danger to Paris due to the rise of the river level. In addition, the Ministry of Ecology, Development, Transport and Housing also monitors the rise of water throughout France. In the meantime, tourists are waiting for the passage of ships along the Seine to be allowed, and they will be able to resume their walks on the famous “borblik-flyers”.

Notice.
Starting from 4 m 30 cm, river navigation stops.
During the flood of 2001, the Seine reached a height of 5 m 21 cm.
In 1910, the water level in the Seine reached 8 m 62 cm.
