Named the most overrated cities
Skyscanner has prepared the top of the most overrated tourist cities. The three leaders included Berlin and Barcelona. The survey was held in social networks on the service page.
Paris “won” by a serious margin – the share of the “city of love” accounted for almost a third (29%) of the disappointed. For Berlin voted 15% of respondents. And closed the top three with a result of 8% Barcelona.
In the top five cities that did not suit tourists Italian capital Belgian Bruges received less than 8% of the vote each. Also in the top 10 overrated megacities include Prague (7%), Amsterdam, Lisbon, Budapest, London, they account for 6%.
Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Prague and other European capitals need no introduction: everyone knows that these are iconic cities with a lot of interesting things. And that is why there are always a lot of travelers and everything that follows from this – from inflated prices to purely tourist attractions, not typical for citizens, said D. Khavansky, Skyscanner development manager in Russia.
According to the expert, travelers interested in the color of the area, you need to leave the beaten paths and look into the towns, to which few people reach. On non-standard routes, you can save on housing, food, cultural program, as prices will be lower than in popular places in the world.
“For example, Lyon, Nantes and Biarritz could be an alternative to Paris. Instead of Berlin, it is interesting to go to Heidelberg, Trier or Bremen. And lovers of Spain will enjoy in Granada, Cadiz and Toledo.
