Named the most popular cities in the world in 2018
Euromonitor explored 600 cities, of which 100 were able to enter the final top of the most visited metropolises in the world.
Experts counted foreign tourists who spent at least a day in the city, regardless of the purpose of the visit. The statistics did not include local residents, workers and students who have lived in the state for more than a year.
Six of the ten most popular cities are in Asia.
Hong Kong topped the ranking with 29.8 million arrivals, followed by Bangkok (23.7 million) and London (20.7 million).
The leaders were Macau (18.9 million) and Singapore (18.6 million). The top 10 included Paris, Dubai, New York, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Shenzhen (China).
Among European cities, tourists are most often in Istanbul, Rome, Antalya, Prague, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Milan, Vienna.
In the United States, the most popular cities were Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Orlando and San Francisco.
Moscow in the ranking according to the results of 2018 ranks 46th: foreign guests visited the capital of Russia 5.4 million times (12.6% more than a year earlier (4.8 million)). St. Petersburg took the 60th place – in 2018 it was visited by 4 million tourists (11% more than in 2017).
