Named the most popular regions of Russia among foreign tourists
According to RIA Novosti, in January 2024, 396.6 thousand foreign tourists stayed in Russian hotels - this is 36% more than in January 2023 (290.6 thousand).
Top 5 regions for foreign guests:
1. Moscow 204.3 thousand people
2. St. Petersburg - 52.0 thousand.
3. Moscow region - 26.2 thousand
4. Murmansk region - 11,600.
5. Irkutsk region - 8,300.
The growth of interest in the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions is associated with the development of tourist infrastructure, the popularization of ecotourism, Arctic routes and attractions, including Baikal and the Northern Sea Route.
The growth of demand among both foreigners and Russians confirms a steady trend towards the restoration and development of domestic and inbound tourism in Russia.
