Published the top 50 countries whose residents go to the 2018 world Cup in Russia
The international company ForwardKeys published the results of a serious study, it found out, residents of which countries from June 14 to July 15 will come to Russia.
Experts analyzing 17 million booking transactions, based on the data obtained, formed the TOP-50 countries, of which more fans will come to Russia.
The leader of the rating is considered unexpected from the point of view of football logic. At the 2018 world Cup, the most fans of football from the United States, despite the fact that the American team is not among the finalists of the world championship and will not play in Russia.
Behind America are Brazil, Spain, Argentina, South Korea, Mexico, China, Britain, Germany and Egypt. Experts explain the leadership of the United States in the top by the fact that interest in football as a sport in the United States has increased since 1994, when this country was the host of the World Cup. America is also considered the largest outbound travel market in the world, with many people with Latin American roots living in this country.
The presence in the top 10 of Egypt due to the fact that the “Pharaohs” reached the final of the world Cup for the first time in 20 years. In the national team of Egypt plays Mohammed Salah, the footballer in his homeland is considered a national hero.
The top 50 included countries whose football teams will not play in Russia, but the residents of these countries are going to Russia. These are football fans from China, Israel, India, UAE, Paraguay, Canada, Turkey, Lebanon, South Africa, Finland, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Norway, Hungary, Qatar, Kuwait and Indonesia.
An alternative method of ranking states is interesting: ForwardKeys notes the countries whose number of visitors during the 2018 World Cup in Russia will increase the most compared to the same time in 2017. Paraguay will have 52 times more tourists than a year ago. In the top 10 in terms of arrival dynamics in annual comparison Peru (39 times more arrivals), Panama (31.6), Nigeria (21.6), Tunisia (12.1), Bangladesh (9.8), Saudi Arabia (9.3), Egypt (8.9), Colombia (8.8) and Morocco (8.3).
Researchers note the absence of Belgium in the top 50, meanwhile, the team from this country is recognized as the favorite of the 2018 World Cup. There is an assumption that this is due to the departure from the air route of the Russian Federation - Belgium carrier "VIM-Avia" with affordable prices. Many Belgians are likely to fly to Russia from neighboring countries.
Olivier Jager, CEO of ForwardKeys, said the analysis was “interesting” because it showed countries whose residents are rarely in Russia, and on the other hand, the study showed countries where more football fans will come from. Altvier Jager is confident that this "dispersion" in countries and arrivals shows the global appeal of the sporting game.
In ForwardKeys say that only 4 countries are in the top in two rankings at once – global and alternative: Brazil, Egypt, Mexico and Peru.
