Dominican hotels reduce prices for Russian travelers?

Galina Lysenko, Head of the Ministry of Tourism Dominican Republic Russia reported that from January to September 2019, 141,083 Russians visited the country (5.21% lower than in 2018).

The expert associates the positive forecast for the tourist flow with the expansion of the flight programs of tour operators, the active work of players with new regions of the country, the loyalty of hoteliers to the Russian market.

In 2019, tour operators increased their volumes due to new regional departure points. In winter, AZUR Air will fly from two new cities - Yekaterinburg and Kazan, and will continue to operate flights from St. Petersburg and Moscow.

From January 1, 2019, flights of the tour operator are operated to La Romana airport.

Flights to the underexplored regions of the Dominican Republic are especially valuable for tourists who are not the first time in the country and are looking for diversity. The opportunity to see the “different Dominican Republic” and its versatility increases returns, and helps to withstand competition with other Caribbean countries.

The Dominican Republic is developing offers in the Russian market. The country is moving away from positioning itself as a beach destination, relying on the development of other types of active, ecological, business, and niche tourism, such as weddings.

The hotel base grows every year. And this year, tourists can afford to relax in hotels of category 5* in the Dominican Republic at the price tag of hotels 4*.

The Dominican Republic is a favorite among Caribbean destinations among Russian tourists, but is uncomfortable with the strengthened position of Cuba, and to stimulate the Russian tourist flow, hotels reduce prices and give discounts for the autumn-winter season, sometimes the discount reaches 30%.

We give a good price tag for the Russian market and see the result. Our Ocean El Faro 5* hotel opened its doors last year, but is already in good demand among Russian tourists, says a representative of the Ocean El Faro hotel (Uvero Alto resort). Please tourists prices in another hotel chain – Ocean Blue & Sand 5*.

Representatives of tourist retail confirm that Dominican hotels this year reduced prices, which affected sales.

Experts estimate the winter season in the Dominican Republic with cautious optimism. Judging by the current pace of sales and the increasing depth of bookings, the Dominican Republic can recover lost volumes.

As for dumping on the route, observers say it is unlikely, as tour operators this year carefully shape flight programs and demand is in line with expectations.
