Russian hotels will be awarded "stars"

In the Russian Federation, a law on compulsory classification of hotels was adopted. The document was prepared by the Ministry of Culture, it was submitted for consideration by the government in winter 2016.

The initiator of the law was V. Putin, the President of Russia. In January of this year, the State Duma adopted the document in the third reading, and on February 5 it was signed by Vladimir Putin. Law No. 16-FZ is an amendment to the Code of Administrative Offences and the Law “On the Basics of Tourist Activities in the Russian Federation”.

All accommodation facilities and facilities of the tourist industry, beaches and ski slopes are subject to the law. The law will not rock children's camps, sanatoriums, hostels and campsites. The head of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs Mikhail Degtyarev believes that the main goal of the innovation is to improve the quality of services in the industry. The law will guarantee the regulation of prices fixed by hoteliers and increase the competitiveness of facilities, which will positively affect the growth of the flow of guests to Russia.

The certificate of awarding the hotel category will be valid for three years from the date of receipt. From July 2019, in the absence of paper, hotels with a capacity of more than 50 rooms will become responsible, in 2020 - more than 15 rooms, and from 2021 - all hotels in Russia. The resource of the Ministry of Culture will post information about the current status of objects.
