The first hotel will open in space
In San Jose, California, there is a discussion and the launch of the Aurora Station project begins. According to the preliminary plan, six people, including crew members, will be able to go on a 12-day flight into space.
Passengers of the station will spend their vacation in zero gravity, enjoying views of the Earth from a distance of 322 kilometers. In one day, guests will see 16 sunrises and sunsets.
Guests will be invited to participate in scientific research, for example, grow products in orbit, or explore virtual reality technologies. High-speed Internet will allow you to share your experience online.
Frank Banger, the founder of the project, believes that the luxury hotel will receive its first visitors in 2022. He added that he dreams of making space travel accessible to everyone, but according to preliminary information, 12 days of stay at the station will cost $ 9.5 million.
Before the trip, tourists will have three months to prepare for the flight.
At the end of 2017, information appeared about Roscosmos’ plans to launch a hotel on the International Space Station. The design of the scientific and energy module (weight 20 tons, length 15.5 m and volume 92 cubic meters) will be converted into a hotel. The project should be implemented within the framework of public-private partnership.
