"Peaking Boy" will wear a spacesuit

Today, on April 12, in Belgium, the famous Manneken Pis will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight with the whole world.

“Peaking boy” will wear a Russian space suit The action is timed to the anniversary of Russian cosmonautics and initiated by the Belgian Federation of Russian-speaking organizations (it currently consists of 23 different organizations of Russian-speaking Belgians) with the active support of the Russian Embassy in Belgium.

The purpose of the action is to remind the Belgians about the important role Russia plays in space exploration, and to emphasize the importance of space cooperation between Russia and Belgium. The authors of the idea believe that such a peculiar signal will be understood by all residents of Belgium, even those who have a very general idea of space.

On the new garment of the “Pising Boy” there are Russian symbols, and the common background of the fountain will be Russian and Belgian flags.

The ceremony of dressing the “Peating Boy” is a well-known Belgian tradition. Only representatives of the Society of Friends of Manneken Pis, which is the owner and guardian of all bronze sculpture costumes, can change clothes.
Before the start of the action, a solemn reception will be held in the Brussels Town Hall dedicated to the anniversary of Gagarin’s flight.

Belgians often support various international events and holidays, dressing the world-famous sculpture of the “Pising Boy” in various outfits.
