The beaches of Hugarda cleared of oil
The beaches of the Egyptian resort of Hugard, affected by oil pollution, have already been cleared. The oil slick was spotted somewhat north of Hougarda, but gradually it increased, reaching the Al Gouna tourist complex. As the oil slick could seriously undermine Egypt’s tourism-driven economy, some 2,000 workers were rushed to clean up the water on Friday and the problem was fixed on Monday. This was facilitated by a relatively small amount of oil: according to experts, the leak amounted to about 10 tons. It is now known that due to the incident suffered mainly hotels located in the northern part of Hugardy, but the damage to assess no one is taken.
