Why is the cost of vacation in Turkey rising?

The Turkish edition yenialanya published a statement by the Vice-President of the Alanya Tourism Promotion Foundation (ALTAV). Mehmet Dahagoğlu believes that in recent years, the country’s tourism industry has tried to restrain prices. It is impossible to do this further - the quality of services will decrease or there will be an increase in prices for travelers.

Mehmet Dahagoğlu is confident that the negative dynamics of the exchange rate last year did not affect prices. If the value of the Turkish lira did not fall, the losses could be less significant.

Resident of Alanya V. Hotko reports that the Turkish lira fell significantly in price in October 2018, and the cost of gasoline, gas, electricity increased. Since January 2019, the level of minimum wages has increased - all this has affected the pricing of hoteliers in Turkey.

“Turkey, after the event with the plane, reduced hotel prices by 30%, almost two years the hotels worked without profit, just so as not to lose tourists, only 2018 finally brought some income,” he said, noting that expensive hotels are well filled primarily with customers from outside Russia.

Other experts believe that Turkey has excellent demand for the coming summer from European markets, so there is no need to stimulate sales.

The new alcohol tax could affect the cost of Turkish holiday All inclusive, with the tax rising 13.48% since the beginning of the year. It is likely that high-end hotels, which traditionally offer a wide range of alcoholic beverages, have raised their prices because of this. Perhaps the choice of drinks will become less.

However, there is an opposite point of view: the head of TBS Group, Rashad Mammadov, is sure that the increase in the alcohol tax cannot be considered significant, so that it affects the tourist flow. “As if our tourists were alcoholics.” No one will notice the price difference of $2-3, it’s not $100 after all.
