Fake Turkish Hotel Stars

According to Cemal Shenjan, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Organization of Alanya (THD), more than 300 hotels in Turkey hide their true number of stars from tourists. Shenjan noted that there are 850 hotels in Alanya, almost a third of them work with fake star statuses, thus forming unhealthy competition in the region and deceiving tourists. Over the past year, THD employees have received about 100 complaints from tourists that the hotel does not meet its star status. Sometimes it comes to the fact that hotels without the permission of the city hall and any star are presented on the Internet as 2x, 3x and 4x star. In Alanya conducted a certification of hotels three years ago, as a result, found more than 250 hotels with false star status. Since then, the problem has become even more serious.
