Law on reducing the period of registration of a passport
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed a law on reducing the time for issuing a passport from four to three months if the application is filed not at the place of registration.
On February 19, the document was posted on the official portal of legal information. There is information that the acceleration of issuance will affect the passport with an electronic chip and without it.
In accordance with the existing legislation, if a passport is issued at the place of permanent registration, it can be issued in one month. When a citizen makes an application at the place of actual stay, the process currently takes up to four months. The bill to reduce this period was approved by the Federation Council.
According to experts, the law is relevant for Moscow, St. Petersburg and other megacities, where most of the Russians registered at other addresses live.
