“Dungeon train” will appear in the Czech Republic

The dungeons of the Czech city of Jihlava are the largest tourist attraction in the area. Local entrepreneurs are going to attract even more new tourists by launching a railway excursion route along the corridors of the catacombs.

If until recently, an extreme hike in the former mines required special equipment and training, powerful radios, necessarily an experienced guide who knows the map of mazes, then soon an underground train will take everyone on an exciting journey with minimal risk. In the Middle Ages, the Jiglava mines were the European center of silver mining, gradually the reserves were depleted and the caves now attract only tourists looking for thrills.

The city hall believes this idea is excellent and is ready to contribute in every possible way to its development. “If it is technically possible and everything is carefully thought out from the point of view of security, it is necessary to prepare a project and assess its economic balance,” she said, “we will be happy to deal with enterprising people working for the development of Jihlava.” Also, the city administration believes that the project should not be too expensive and will pay off quite quickly.

Managers of the upcoming reconstruction, say that already purchased stylized wagons, built by order of a private collector in the nineties of the last century, it remains to find a couple of mountain driving locomotives and equipment for them. Preparations are being carried out, measures are being taken to improve safety, drainage channels are being closed, a lattice floor will be mounted and much more will be done. As a pleasant addition, it is planned to mint commemorative silver coins in the medieval style.
