After a long journey of 8,000 nautical miles, Plastic arrived in Sydney Bay
Across the two capes enclosing the entrance to the famous Sydney Bay, a hard-to-manage catamaran, 60 feet long, was accompanied by a small fleet of yachts.
The skipper of the unusual vessel, David De Rothschild, a British traveler, a well-known conservationist and heir to the Rothschild banking empire, said it was just wonderful to finally arrive in Sydney! Plastic has completed the last itinerary of his journey from San Francisco to Sydney as part of a mission to rid the world of plastic. The ship caught the world’s attention on March 21, when it was about to sail off the coast of San Francisco. The ship is made of 12,500 plastic bottles and other fully recyclable plastic, aluminum pipes used in irrigation, and glue derived from sugar cane! The idea of the trip was to draw people’s attention to the severe plastic pollution of the oceans! "Plastics" will stand for several days in one of the bays of Sydney, where residents and tourists will be able to get acquainted with the unusual vessel!
