Russian government changes visa rules for foreigners
The Government of the Russian Federation has amended the regulation on the establishment of the form, procedure and conditions for registration, extension of the validity period and cancellation of Russian visas to foreign citizens.
The resolution is posted on the official portal of legal information: a visa can be single or double for up to 3 months or multiple for up to 6 months.
The total period of stay of a foreign citizen in the Russian Federation on a multiple-entry visa is established when issuing a visa by an authorized state body, but not more than 90 days during each period of 180 days.
A foreign tourist can apply for a visa only on the basis of confirmation of the tour operator, which is in the unified federal register, or confirmation of booking a place in a classified hotel.
The documents must indicate the number of the tour operator in the register and the number of confirmation of admission of the tourist or the number of the hotel certificate in a single list and the number of confirmation of the reservation.
The annex to the rules for issuing visas to foreign tourists determines the procedure for issuing a confirmation of booking a place in the hotel. In particular, it states that the confirmation is filled in on paper without corrections, signed by an authorized employee and certified by the hotel seal.
The document amends the regulation approved by the government in the summer of 2003.
