Russian President Vladimir Putin urged to increase subsidies for air tickets to Crimea

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to increase the amount of subsidies allocated for preferential air tickets to the Crimea. The corresponding resolution was published on April 12 on the official website of the Kremlin.

“To the Government of the Russian Federation to consider increasing the volume of subsidies for passenger air transportation to Simferopol. Report until 1 June 2019.”

In 2019, subsidized flights to Crimea are allowed to five airlines. Compared to 2018, the number of cities from which you can go to the peninsula at a preferential tariff decreased from 61 to 11. And the number of citizens entitled to purchase subsidized tickets has increased, large families have joined.

It is not known how much the government will allocate from the budget for subsidized transportation in 2019. But, according to experts, the total amount should exceed the estimates of previous years to affect the flow of tourists to the Crimea.

S. Romashkin, Director of the tour operator “Dolphin” believes that the benefits are extended to a limited category of citizens, and talk about the mass sale of air tickets is not necessary. For 5 million seats sold in 2018, 200,000 were subsidized. This is no more than 3-4% of the total.

But the fact of the work of the government in this direction tour operators received positively. Ilya Umansky, General Director of ALEAN, believes that in the absence of railway transportation, such news carries a positive information background and will cause tourists interest in resting on the peninsula.
