Russian President Vladimir Putin bans Russian airlines from flying to Georgia

On June 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a temporary ban on passenger flights with Georgia.

The measures were taken after a scandal with Russian delegations in Tbilisi and protests.

Tour operators are recommended "for the duration of the ban to refrain from selling the tourist product to citizens."

The President instructed the government to take measures to return to their homeland Russians who are temporarily in Georgia.

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reports that Russians can count on a full refund if the tour to Georgia is canceled.

Regular flights to Georgia are carried out by Aeroflot, Siberia, Ural Airlines, Victory, Red Wings, Nordavia.

Airlines will open hotlines to help the Russians.
