When entering the EU stamp in the passport will no longer be put
From 2022, the system of electronic registration of crossing the borders of the European Union will begin to work, and holders of Schengen visas, including Russians, will not manually stamp their passports at entry / exit.
Now the system is being tested on visa-free visitors to EU countries – citizens crossing the borders of Europe and citizens of Switzerland, the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand.
According to the European Commission, the time of border control will be reduced and its quality will be improved.
The system should also make it easier for law enforcement agencies to access travel information.
The process will be as follows: the tourist scans the title page (with a photo) of the passport (we are talking about biometric passports).
Then the first gate opens to the next counter – the tourist turns his face to the camera, which is automatically installed at the level of the head of the enterer, and takes a photo.
The computer matches the physical parameters of the person standing at the border with the database, and a second automatic gate will open for the tourist, allowing entry or exit. The intervention of the border guard will be required when the tourist does not receive permission to move across the automatic border.
