Fuel problems at Tel Aviv airport

On May 5, contaminated jet fuel was found in Tel Aviv airport storage facilities. Because of this, the refueling of all aircraft was stopped. It will not resume until the cause of the incident is clarified.

Since yesterday, planes have not been able to leave the airport. At first, the number of cancelled or delayed flights was several dozen. Today it is approaching a hundred. Airlines serving Tel Aviv-Moscow flights were forced to cancel their flights.

Some foreign companies are trying to solve the problem of flights to Israel with the help of refueling at the airports of neighboring countries. Most of these flights use Larnaca for this purpose, some others - Istanbul, Amman and Rhodes. But some carriers chose to simply cancel or merge flights.

Intra-Israeli flights have been completely stopped. Bus transportation of passengers who could not fly to another city. The situation is complicated by the imminent arrival of Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath, when the Jewish airline does not fly anyway. At night, a small batch of proven fuel will be delivered to Tel Aviv airport. However, this assistance will be insignificant. After all, only a few delayed flights will be able to fly.
