Travel to Santa Claus became more popular than trips to Santa Claus
The head of Rostourism Oleg Safonov said that recently tours to Santa Claus are in greater demand among Russians than trips to Santa Claus.
O. Safonov noted that in the last two years, 2.9 million people came to the Vologda region, of which 300 thousand - to Veliky Ustyug.
In 2017, 175.8 thousand Russians celebrated New Year holidays there, which is almost twice the number of travelers who arrived in the same period in 2017.
“As of early December, the level of bookings for the upcoming holidays has already exceeded the figure for the same date last year by 5%,” Safonov said.
The head of the department notes that the number of air tickets to Finland, which were booked by residents of Russia, decreased by 25%. According to preliminary estimates of experts, about 30,000 Russians will be able to travel to Finland during the New Year holidays.
