Records of museums in Rome
During the holidays, which took place from December 23, 2010 to January 6, 2011, Fiumicino Airport in Rome managed to register a record number of transit passengers in the last few years - almost 1.2 million. One of the reasons for this situation was a serious snowfall, which on Christmas Eve hit the Italian capital. Rome stood paralyzed by abundant snow, so tourists and locals were intuitively drawn to art and culture. The museums of Rome were filled with visitors like never before. During the holidays, the number of visitors to the Colosseum increased by 30 percent, St. Angelo Castle by 56 percent, and Villa D’Este by 69 percent. The record holder was Palazzo Barberini, which was reopened only on September 19, 2010, with 188 percent more visitors than on normal days.
