Rospotrebnadzor is ready to punish Russian hotels due to overestimation of prices for the 2018 World Cup

Rospotrebnadzor checked 11,000,388 accommodation places in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and recorded 539 instances of overpriced hotels and 110 cases of lack of certificates of classification at hotels.

Last week alone, 37 new cases of unjustified increase in the cost of accommodation were revealed. According to the agency, 1 thousand 138 unscheduled inspections were carried out, 1 thousand 409 cases of administrative offenses were initiated.

Violators received administrative fines totaling about 4.4 million rubles. The inspections took place in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and in the cities where the World Cup matches will be held and / or participants and spectators will be accommodated.

The cost of hotel services should be determined based on the category of the hotel. “Call” the check can be a consumer who applies to Rospotrebnadzor via a hotline.

In fact, during the world championship, state price regulation was introduced in a number of Russian cities. Hotels that overprice during the World Cup will be subject to legal sanctions. According to experts, since the period of the Olympics-14, there are special federal laws that establish price limits for hotels, threatening violators with imposing penalties.

Mikhail Degtyarev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, made a strange appeal to the owners of private hotels “not to strive to make money on fans” who come to the sports festival. He also threatened to close hotels for those who disobeyed.

It should be remembered that the main task of business is to earn money, and entrepreneurs regard the World Cup-18 as an opportunity for additional earnings. Rostourism is already forming “black lists” of hotels, which, according to officials, raise prices.
