Russian travelers have nothing to fear in Greece
25 July Director of the National Tourism Organization Greece In Russia and CIS countries, Polycarpos Efstatio said that there are no threats to Russians who are on vacation in Athens.
Polycarpos Efstatiu says that regular flights to the capital of the country are on schedule, there are no interruptions in tourist activities.
The day before, forest fires began in the suburbs of Athens. The death toll, according to official information, reached 79 people. More than 180 people are in hospitals. Hundreds of local residents left their homes, about 700 people were evacuated from beaches, and 640 children from summer camps. In areas northeast and west of Athens, the state of emergency was introduced.
Information about the tragedy affected the tourist market – some tourists are afraid to fly to Greece. Cancellations of already paid tours are now isolated. “It is too early to draw any conclusions, too little time has passed. But we are not talking about mass refusals, says Alexander Razhivin, director of retail sales of the RossTour network.
“For the coming dates, we expect guest arrivals in other regions of the country, there are no cancellations,” said Dimitris Haritidis, head of the Greek office of TEZ TOUR.
Many clients of travel companies have taken a break and have not yet made a final decision about the trip.
