Russia and Seychelles agree to resume direct flights

The Embassy of the Russian Federation informs: “... the parties are working on the coordination of the interaction algorithm, which will allow to resume direct communication.”

Seychelles has confirmed the absence of intentions to impose sanctions against Russia: the Republic is a member of the Non-Aligned Movement and in its foreign policy follows the principle of “friends for all, for no one, enemies”.

The Seychelles leadership urges the parties to a speedy peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, stressing that Victoria does not intend to join any sanctions measures.

Earlier, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia reported that the termination of direct transportation, rising prices and the inability to pay with cards reduced the outbound tourist flow from Russia to the Seychelles in March by 55% compared to February.

The Russian authorities have closed flights with the islands due to the spread of the coronavirus.

On April 9, 2022, Russia resumed flights with 52 countries, and lifted earlier restrictions on COVID-19. The decision concerns Argentina, India, China, South Africa, Venezuela, Brazil, Seychelles.
