Russia restricts flights to all countries due to coronavirus

Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, Russia has been restricting air traffic to all countries since March 23.

Rosaviatsiya reports that all flights to foreign countries are suspended except flights from Moscow to capitals or large cities.

The list of exception flights published by Rosaviatsia includes flights to 146 countries (one flight to one country).

Charter flights fall under the exception, subject to the transportation of foreigners abroad and Russians to their homeland until their full export.

Russia began to restrict air traffic because of the coronavirus from February 1, when some flights to China were stopped. Restrictions were then extended to include flights to South Korea and Iran. Then there was a stop of flights to European cities, starting with Italian ones.

Air traffic restrictions were also imposed by other countries. As a result, airlines around the world were forced to suspend a significant part of flights.
