Russians admit that they do not know foreign languages well
Most Russians admitted not knowing foreign languages and that it interferes with them during their holidays. This is stated in the study of the service Aviasales.
More than 300,000 people took part in the survey, and it turned out that 35% of respondents know foreign languages and have no difficulties in traveling abroad.
65% admit that only online translators, gestures or memorized phrases in the local language save them on vacation.
Some tourists shared funny experiences from their trips. The Russian negotiated with Thai fishermen about an excursion to the islands, and wrote the amount of payment with a stick in the sand. Another traveler took a tram to Munich for free because the conductor did not understand him.
Another respondent couldn't explain at a Milan bar that she wanted a rum cocktail. Instead, under the convincing nods of bartenders, she ordered pure rum.
In the summer, the service Aviasales named the countries in which Russians are afraid to travel, because they do not speak foreign languages. China leads the list, followed by Japan and Morocco.
