Rostourism: organized tourists should return to Russia in a week
According to Rostourism, organized tourists should return to Russia this week.
From March 17 to March 23, 2020, the number of Russian organized tourists staying abroad through tour operators decreased from 100,000 people to 57.8 thousand people. Most organized tourists return to Russia from Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and Turkey.”
Zarina Doguzova, the head of Rostourism, said that more than half of the organized tourists will return to our country on schedule, on available tickets: “The remaining organized tourists will return before the end of the month either as planned, or if the date of their departure falls at a later date, tour operators <...> offer them earlier options for returning home.”
Independent tourists who face difficulties when returning home, have to “rescue” together with Rosaviatsia and the Russian Foreign Ministry – for example, in the case of Morocco and the Philippines.
On March 19, 2020, tour operators were advised to temporarily refrain from sending Russians to foreign countries and help tourists in rebooking travel at a late date. Most tour operators followed the recommendation.
Zarina Doguzova: “I would like to express my gratitude to the tour operators, who in the current situation, on our recommendation, suspended the export of tourists to other countries <...> the industry today is actively contributing to the normalization of the epidemiological situation in the country, stopping the sale of tours abroad.”
