Since August 15, foreign tickets have risen in price: tourists buy up popular routes

Prices for air travel on international routes on average increased by 7% due to the fall of the ruble. Air ticketing services transmit information about a sharp jump in demand, more than 30% on the most popular routes.

The online booking service Biletix reports that last week the internal rate of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for the euro was 73.50 rubles, for the dollar - 63.50 rubles. “Given that the Central Bank of the Russian Federation set the official dollar exchange rate of 68.22 rubles on August 14, 2018, and the euro exchange rate is 77.65 rubles, the IATA rate will have to be 68 rubles for dollars (+7% compared to last week’s exchange rate) and 77.50 for euros (+5.4%).”

The exchange rate directly affects the cost of air travel on flights of Russian airlines to foreign destinations, and on flights of foreign airlines, because the calculations of air transport market participants occur in currency at the internal rate of the International Air Transport Association.

In Russia, the IATA rate is associated with the official rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and can change every week with a rounding of 50 kopecks. on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday.

From 8 to 12 August, compared to the first week of August, five popular foreign destinations show growth: Moscow-Tivat in both directions - + 33%, Moscow-Yerevan - + 28%, Moscow-Tbilisi - + 34%. The top 5 leaders are completed by Barcelona and Burgas, where the demand for flights increased by 25% and 18%. The cost of a direct flight in both directions to Barcelona - 16 807 rubles, to Burgas - 18 693 rubles.
