The situation in Syria may affect the sale of vouchers to Turkey

Demand for travel in Turkey It risks declining if the political situation around Syria does not stabilize in the near future, and in the case of new airstrikes by the Western coalition on the state.

Tours to other tourist destinations of the Eastern Mediterranean - Greece, Cyprus, Israel are also under threat. Such considerations were shared by the head of a large tour operator company.

The expert notes that last Thursday and Friday there was a drop in demand by 40-50%. The expert linked this fact with the growing unrest of tourists because of the statements about air strikes in Syria. Sales are 10-15% lower than in previous weeks.

There is another opinion of players who are seriously working on the Turkish direction. Anna Podgornaya, CEO of Pegasus LLC, “I monitor current bookings online daily and do not observe a decline in sales yet.”

The drop in demand is not yet indicated by the minimum tariffs for vouchers to Turkey for May. On April 16, weekly tour packages for two to the Antalya coast with a flight from the Russian capital on April 27-30 were actually purchased from 31.5 thousand rubles. This is more expensive than the cost to tour operators of seats on board air carriers, the route Moscow – Antalya.
