How many people visited Russia in 2021?
In an interview with RBC, the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova said that the number of Russians traveling around their country who spent at least one night in hotels in 2021 will amount to 56 million people, which means that the domestic tourist flow has recovered by 90% compared to the indicators of 2019.
According to Doguzova, there are regions that will fully restore or surpass the indicators of 2019: Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory, Altai, Kamchatka, Kaliningrad region, Karelia, Sakhalin, Murmansk region, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, etc.
It has not yet been possible to fully recover the regions that depend on foreign and business flows: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok.
In general, it is due to the outstripping growth rates of domestic tourism that we will this year restore the total turnover of the industry to 2.5 trillion, which is 70% of the precocious level of 3.7 trillion rubles. But we still lose 1.2 trillion rubles due to the absence of foreign tourists. According to the results of the year, Russia will restore the tourism industry on key indicators by an average of 80% of the dokovidnyh level – this is one of the best indicators in the world. The most important indicator is jobs in the industry: this year we were able to almost completely restore employment in tourism to the pre-dominate level, by 92%, to 2.3 million people. Last year, the figure fell to 1.7 million.”
The rapid recovery of domestic tourism, especially in the low season, is partly due to the implementation of the cashback program for tours around the home country.
