How much have Russians spent on vaccine tours since September 2021?
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reports that Russians have spent about 400 million rubles on vaccine tours since September 2021, the demand for such trips is stable, and the range of proposed countries is constantly growing.
According to tour operators, in general, the demand for vaccination tours abroad in January stabilized at the level of the end of last year, and at the beginning of the month it was lower due to higher prices for air tickets during the New Year holidays. In just one month, 2.5-3 thousand people traveled for vaccination, which, taking into account the average cost of the vaccine tour, spent 80-90 million rubles on vaccination trips. Total spending on organized vaccine tours since September 2021, when tour operators began offering them, can be estimated at 400 million rubles.
According to tour operators, the delay in the recognition of the Russian “Satellite V” by the WHO and the removal of restrictions on travel by the European Union for vaccines recognized on the continent, as well as the approach of the summer season will contribute to the growth of the popularity of vaccine tourism.
“If the WHO does not approve the domestic Satellite V by May, there will be a new “big round” of demand, and there will be significantly more people willing to be vaccinated with imported vaccine for the May holidays,” they say.
Vaccine tours are offered by an increasing number of tour operators, and the choice of countries where you can go for vaccination is growing. In the first place is Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Armenia and Turkey are popular.
