How many tourists will Sakhalin Island receive by 2030?
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation D. Chernyshenko is confident that the comprehensive development of tourist areas, the construction of hotels and the growth of the capacity of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport will attract a million tourists to Sakhalin Island every year by 2030.
It is necessary to develop tourist Sakhalin in the complex - to build hotels for all-season recreation, to ensure transport connectivity of the territory, to use eco-technologies. The all-season ski resort “Mountain Air” and the territory of natural ecological tourism Laguna Busse should become key for development.
Governor of the region V. Limarenko: “Mountain air” is able to become the best ski resort beyond the Urals. “We are seeking federal support for tourism infrastructure projects. Among them is the construction of new tracks, lifts and a snowmaking system on the "Mountain Air", as well as a section of the road to Lake Busse. Business is interested in building modern hotels on Iturup.”
